Sledding

Brrrrr! It was windy and my toes were freezing but we still had a great time sledding with friends. The snow will probably be gone soon and hopefully, spring is on its way. Until then, we will take advantage of any chance to have some fun.

Celebration Cake

"You don't eat a cake every day of your life.... You have a slice of cake and what it reminds you of is someplace that's safe, uncomplicated, without stress. A cake is a party, a birthday, a wedding. A cake is what's served on the happiest days of your life." from Eat Cake

We celebrated the fourth month. That means that Gene has now been deployed for four full months. It is undeniable that in those four short and long months that he has missed so many wonderful moments with us. Moments that would have been sweeter if we were all together as a family. Moments that we all could have laughed a little louder and felt a little bit more free. Moments that held so much joy but still had a shadow. So many moments that I have thought - I wish Gene were here because I know I won't remember to tell him about this during one of our quick phone conversations or if I do remember, I won't be able to find the words to capture the moment. I thank God for the time I have with the girls. I know that when we are together as a family that we will remember to cherish every little smile, every bit of laughter, and even enjoy the arguments because at least we are together and can disagree. Until then, we will enjoy moments with great friends. Moments like this one with Jessica and Scott.
